Well friends, it's here...the end of Summer Vacation as our family knows it LOL!
We had a great summer that is worthy of several blog postings, but that is for another time. I really have wanted to get back into better sleep routines with the kids, and that worked for about a day (note the sarcasm). In actuality, Ken and I are night owls...and we've passed that along to our kids. Something in our body comes alive at 11:00 at night and we suddenly find all sorts of good movies on television. I'm sure next week my kids will be as crabby as everyone else's standing in line to go in for the first day of school. I will also be crabby because I have the worst time waking up in the morning. I have always LOVED my sleep, just ask my mom. She used to squirt water at me in the morning to wake me up, and I even slept through my alarm the first time I was scheduled to take my ACT's! I have tried many techniques, even the most obvious, like GOING TO BED EARLIER...somehow it's always a big problem for me.
So, in our last days of summer we will do the following:
STAY UP LATE! SLEEP IN!! HAVE FUN!!! EAT TOO MUCH JUNK!!!!
I can't be the fun police all the time :-)

Summer Fun List
Now as many of you know, I am a list maker. My lists don't always get completed, but I sure like to make them. Before every trip we take, I make lists. When I go grocery shopping, I make a list. I LOVE back-to-school item lists!! So it should be no surprise that I made a list for Summer Fun. The kids helped compile this and we placed it on the front door so it was clearly visible. As we did our items, we highlighted them, if we did them more than one time they were highlighted and then a hash mark was placed next to it corresponding to how many times the activity was completed. Now, I know what you are thinking...we are a little OCD in our house. Probably. I happened to look at the door today and noticed how many things we have managed to mark off on our list. It made me feel pretty good about the summer activities Ken and I were able to provide the kids with. We may not always have the most money to buy the newest gadget or go on the most expensive vacations, but we really know how to have fun! Keep in mind that the first 2 items the kids wanted to add on the Summer Fun list were "nothing" and "video games"!! (note the above list is not actually ours, and mine was a little neater!!)
